Delivering films of the Future

bpi.stretchfilms reveals easyFair plans

Leading manufacturer of pallet stretchwrap, bpi.stretchfilms, has revealed its plans for this year’s easyFairs Ecopack exhibition. At the 2011 event, the business will use its stand (F23A) to showcase some of its latest products which enable users to cut costs, improve efficiency and reduce their environmental impact.

In particular, staff from the firm will be promoting a new blown pallet stretchwrap known as Bontite. The Bontite range draws on a proprietary blend of polymers to offer all the benefits of blown film (such as a high level of strength and tear resistance) but with the advantages of films produced using cast technology –namely low noise levels and good presentation qualities.

Having a low unwind noise level, Bontite contributes to a quieter, more pleasant working environment. It also offers high levels of film clarity which contribute to better pallet presentation and easier bar code scanning.

Bontite’s load holding forces surpass that of typically heavier gauge cast films - and at lower stretch levels. This makes it incredibly versatile and suitable for use on a wide variety of palletised products. It can be used to wrap heavy, irregular or awkward loads (e.g. those with sharp edges) as well as on lighter and easily crushable goods.

Bontite can also contribute to better load integrity thanks to the option of different cling configurations. To accommodate the different demands of individual customers and of specific stretchwrapping machines, it can be produced in cling configurations that include inside or outside cling and with the option of a high slip level on the non-cling face to help prevent inter-pallet adhesion.
Aside from Bontite, bpi.minster films stand will also be promoting Supreme RIX12. Another new addition to the manufacturer’s range, this highly versatile, multi-layer cast stretchfilm is aimed at customers employing semi automatic pallet stretchwrapping machines. It allows these users to enjoy a number of advantages normally only afforded to those using more advanced, power pre-stretch machinery – in particular the ability to apply thinner layers of film which helps to deliver significant cost savings and a marked reduction in packaging waste.

RIX12’s unique benefits stem largely from its downgauged profile. It is produced using advanced polymers and state-of-the-art extrusion technology enabling it to offer all the strength, loading holding characteristics and performance of a conventional 17micron (mμ) stretchwrap – but from a film profile that’s only 12mμ in thickness.

This thinner profile allows bpi.stretchfilms to wind more film onto each roll and in turn, more pallets per reel to be wrapped. In addition to saving up to 25% on wrapping costs, this greater length of film per roll also means fewer stoppages for reel changes maximising productivity.

In addition, RIX12‘s downgauged profile provides environmental and operational benefits. This includes the ability to wrap pallets using less film by weight (resulting in less 100% recyclable waste), fewer film deliveries and attributable transport emissions and streamlined administrative demands.

Commenting on bpi.stretchfilms’ plans for the event, Louise Aplin, Marketing Manager from the business, said: “Our strong commitment to on-going product research and development has enabled bpi.minster films to create products that deliver innovative yet practical solutions to the transit packaging needs of the modern supply chain. We look forward to demonstrating just some of our recent advances at Ecopack 2011.”
